Fathom Disseminates Knowledge from Columbia and Other Members of the Fathom Consortium to a Global Audience Fathom Launches New Columbia Gateway |
|
A new Columbia University "look and feel" marks the gateway to Fathom's robust collections of authenticated knowledge from 13 of the world's leading cultural and academic institutions. Fathom has launched a new gateway to Columbia content and has also added a number of improvements, including simplified navigation, improved search functions and better links to subject-specific information throughout the Fathom site. When users log onto to the Columbia gateway for the new Fathom site, they will find select e-courses and features (video, articles, interviews) from Columbia faculty and links to Columbia-developed online resources, such as Columbia Earthscape, which is a resource for the earth sciences, and Columbia International Affairs Online, a multidisciplinary resource for international affairs. Other digital media resources developed at Columbia, not available on Fathom, can be accessed through Columbia Interactive. The new Fathom site also premieres a new interactive online learning experience, called the free e-seminar, a multimedia learning session that is designed for first-time online learners. Each e-seminar allows interactivity with the content, while guiding students through the material with a structure and a set of objectives that have been designed by the faculty member or expert. |
